Privacy Notice
- You don't need an account, name or email to use the app. The app creates a random anonymous identifier.
- We use what you share (links, text, screenshots) only to give you the answer. Screenshots are not stored, and pasted text is erased when you delete it from your history.
- We don't sell your data, we don't show ads and we don't use advertising tracking.
- You can ask to access, correct or delete your data at [email protected].
This summary does not replace the full text below, which is what applies.
1. Who is responsible
SIETE OCHO NUEVE MX S.C. is responsible for the personal data collected through the BlinkRead app and the website blinkread.ai, under Mexico's Federal Law on the Protection of Personal Data Held by Private Parties and other applicable laws. Privacy contact: [email protected].
2. Data we process
When you use the app
- Anonymous device identifier, randomly generated by the app (it is not Apple's advertising identifier), and your chosen language.
- What you share to summarize: links, pasted text and screenshots.
- Your history: the summaries you created, their dates and whether you saved them.
- Usage: daily summary counts, to apply each plan's limits.
- Purchases: if you subscribe, Apple sends us transaction data (product, transaction identifiers, validity dates and status). We do not receive your name, email or card details.
- Technical data: IP address and request date and time, for security, abuse prevention and rate limiting.
When you visit blinkread.ai or join the waitlist
- Your email address, language, the segment you chose and the IP address you signed up from.
- Strictly necessary cookies so the site works securely. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party analytics cookies. The site's fonts load from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when they are downloaded.
Sensitive data
We don't ask for sensitive personal data. If a screenshot or text you share contains sensitive information about you or others, it is processed only to give you the answer. Please don't share other people's sensitive information.
3. Why we use your data
Primary purposes (needed for the Service)
- Generating answers, key points and Clickbait Scores for what you share.
- Showing and syncing your history across the app, share extension and widgets.
- Applying usage limits and verifying your purchases and subscriptions.
- Protecting the Service against fraud, abuse and attacks, and complying with the law.
Secondary purposes (you can opt out)
- Emailing you about the launch and product news, if you joined the waitlist.
- Producing aggregated, anonymous statistics to improve the product and the Clickbait Score.
To opt out of secondary purposes, write to [email protected] or use the unsubscribe link in any email. Opting out does not affect your use of the Service.
4. Who we share data with
We do not sell or rent your personal data, and we do not share it for targeted advertising. To run the Service we use providers that process data on our behalf and under our instructions:
- Anthropic (United States): AI models that generate summaries. Receives the content you share (article text, pasted text or screenshot) and your "Ask the article" questions.
- TypeSafe (United States): a model that rates headlines for the Clickbait Score. Receives the headline and the content's text.
- Infrastructure and content-extraction providers: server hosting and, in some cases, services that fetch the text of public web pages from their link.
- Apple: processes payments and confirms the status of purchases to us.
These providers may be located outside Mexico, so your data may be transferred to other countries, with safeguards to protect it. We may also disclose data when required by law or by a competent authority, or to defend our rights. Otherwise, we do not transfer your data to third parties without your consent.
5. Public pages
When you summarize a public web link, the summary may be published on blinkread.ai and count toward that site's Clickbait Score. Those pages contain only information about the public article, never who requested it. Pasted text and screenshots are never published.
6. How long we keep data
- Screenshots: not stored. We keep only the generated summary and a technical fingerprint (hash) to avoid processing the same image twice.
- Pasted text: stored with your history and erased when you delete that entry.
- History and anonymous account: while you use the Service or until you ask us to delete them. The Free plan only shows the last 7 days.
- Summaries of public links: kept, because they contain no data about you and serve other users and the ranking.
- Waitlist: until you unsubscribe or ask for deletion.
- Purchase data and technical logs: as long as needed for security and to meet legal and tax obligations.
7. Your rights and how to use them
You have the right to access, correct and delete your data, to object to its processing, to withdraw your consent and to limit its use or disclosure (in Mexico, "ARCO" rights). Email [email protected] with:
- your name or how you want us to reply;
- the right you want to exercise and a clear description of the data;
- information that lets us find your data (for example, the email you signed up with or, for the app, the approximate date and the links you summarized) and, where applicable, documents proving your identity or representation.
We will reply within 20 business days and, if your request is granted, carry it out within the following 15 business days. You can also delete entries from your history directly in the app. If you believe your data protection rights were violated, you can contact the competent data protection authority.
8. U.S. residents
We do not sell your personal information or "share" it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Depending on your state's law, you may have the right to know what information we hold, to ask us to correct or delete it, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. Write to [email protected].
9. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. Minors under 18 should use it with the permission of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child gave us data, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards: encrypted connections, AI keys kept only on our server (never in the app), restricted access and purchase verification with Apple. No system is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data.
11. Changes to this notice
We may update this Privacy Notice. We will post the current version on this page with its date and, for material changes, let you know in the app. If there is any difference between the English and Spanish versions, the Spanish version prevails.
